7 nabbed in Zambo anti-drug ops

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The local police's Drug Enforcement Units (DEUs) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested seven persons in separate anti-drug operations here and in Zamboanga del Norte, a top police official said Saturday.

Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, identified the arrested suspects as John Mark Murillo Evangelista, 40; Gerald Martinez Celerio, 29; Alrauf Bacalso Lim, 30; Randy Valles Salvador, 32; Judy Flores Vegare, 21; Michael dela Cruz Cabrera, 29; and Michael Buagas Buniel, 43.

Cambay said Evangelista was arrested by the DEU of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 7 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malagutay here at about 4 p.m. on Friday. He yielded some PHP7,500 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 cash.

Celerio and Lim, meanwhile, were arrested in possession of some PHP3,400 worth of suspected shabu and PHP300 in marked money in a buy-bust operation by the DEU of the ZCPO Station 5 in Barangay Zambowood here at about 10 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Salvador and Vegare yielded some PHP1,700 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 in marked money when arrested by the DEU of ZCPO Station 9 in a buy-bust operation along Sto. Niño Street, Barangay Ayala here at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, Cabrera yielded some PHP3,500 worth of suspected shabu and PHP100 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sta. Catalina here at about 10:40 p.m. Friday, police said.

Buniel was arrested in possession of some PHP35,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP500 in marked money by the DEU and PDEA operatives in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Turno, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte at about 7 p.m. Friday.

Cambay said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (PNA)
