Covid recoveries among OFs up by 19: DFA

MANILA – The recoveries among Filipinos afflicted with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) overseas rose to 7,497 following 19 additional reports since Nov. 23.

Data from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) from Nov. 23 up to the present also showed 103 new infections and two new fatalities among Filipinos abroad.

The Covid-19 case count now stands at 11,665. Of this number, 3,332 are active cases, 7,497 are recoveries, and 836 are deaths.

"The DFA personnel in our Foreign Service Posts remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and agencies to ensure Filipinos' awareness of and adherence to preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic, and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of our people affected by this pandemic, whenever possible," the DFA said in a statement.

Based on its latest bulletin, most of the active cases are in the Middle East/Africa with 2,327 followed by the Asia Pacific with 588, Europe with 286, and the Americas with 131.

Recoveries are also concentrated in the Middle East/Africa with 4,657 followed by the Asia Pacific with 1,327, Europe with 993, and the Americas with 520.

The two new fatalities recorded this week were from the Middle East/Africa, raising the death toll in the region to 551. (PNA
