CEBU CITY – The Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) will hold its ceremonial handgun shoot-for-a-cause competition with Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas as the guest of honor on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The tournament is the first fund-raising event of CFBJ, an organization composed of news practitioners from established media outfits in Cebu, three months after its new officers took over.
Sinas will lead the ceremonial opening of the competition to be participated in by personnel from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
Defense Press Corps president and CFBJ president Arnold Bustamente said they are grateful for the continuing support of the PNP to the Cebu media.
"We are an organization with over a hundred members. When the new officers thought of organizing a fundraising event, Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 regional director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro offered to help and this shooting competition is a realization of our plans in the organization," Bustamante said.
He noted that the entire amount that will be raised at the event will serve as a support fund for CFBJ's emergency and health program.
The first leg of the three-day shooting competition was originally set on Dec. 18-20, but due to the unavailability of Sinas on those dates, the event was moved to an earlier date.
Sinas served as PRO-7 regional director from 2018 to 2019.
CFBJ and PRO-7's shoot-for-a-cause event will be held in partnership with the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. (PNA)
