Caraga Region records 253 recoveries since Dec. 1

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health in Caraga Region (DOH-13) reported Wednesday that 253 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) since December 1.
DOH-13 said this increased the total recoveries to 3,371 as of Tuesday (Dec. 8).
On the other hand, it added that 52 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the area. 
The newly reported cases brought to 3,961 the total number of Covid-19 infections in the region since March.
As of Wednesday, Caraga has remaining 406 active Covid-19 cases, with 184 recorded deaths from the virus.  
“Of the new cases, 56 percent belonged to ages 21 to 50-years-old. Fifty-eight percent of the newly-infected individuals, or 30 (patients), are females while 42 percent or 22 (individuals) are males,” D0H-13 said in a report Wednesday.
It said 12 of the new Covid-19 cases are considered as local transmissions, 38 are classified as asymptomatic, 13 are with mild symptoms while one is considered critical.
The rate of local Covid-19 transmission in the region is now at 70 percent, with 2,781 cases, it said.
This includes 385 cases among healthcare workers, 160 front-liners, 307 locally-stranded individuals (LSIs), and 64 returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
Meanwhile, DOH-13 reported a decrease in the number of cases in this city since December 1.
Except on December 6 wherein, 14 cases were logged, a single-digit number of infections were noted here from December 1-8, with zero cases reported on December 7.
As of press time, the city has recorded 1,657 Covid-19 infections, with 1,472 recoveries, 128 active cases, and 57 deaths. (PNA)
