CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Farmers’ groups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Central Luzon are getting the needed support from the Department of Agriculture (DA) in this time of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Through its "Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita,” program, some 20 farmers’ groups and SMEs in the region have been able to get the best prices for their goods while providing affordable, safe, and nutritious food to the consumers.

Carmencita Nogoy, senior agriculturist of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division-DA Regional Field Unit III, on Monday said "Palengke Fresh" under the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita held at the Waltermart here from Dec. 11-13 generated PHP560,870 in total sales while some 1,121 households benefited from the low prices of goods.

“Ang layunin ng programang ito ay matulungan ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda na sila na mismo ang makapagbenta ng kanilang mga ani at produkto sa regular na presyo sa merkado. Ito ay upang makapagkamit din sila ng magandang kita maliban sa pagkakaroon ng masaganang ani (The purpose of this program is to help farmers and fishermen sell their produce and products at regular market prices. This way they can also earn good income aside from having good harvest),” Nogoy said in a social media post.

She said the agency will continuously conduct Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita at the different branches of Waltermart and in other areas in the region to help farmers and SMEs amid the quarantine period.

Among the products being sold at Kadiwa are fruits, breads and pastries, eggs, ready-to-eat products, handicrafts, and plants.

Highland vegetables from the Cordilleras were also made available. (PNA)
