CEBU CITY – A newly chartered Eagles Club in Cebu commended Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go for helping President Rodrigo Duterte in the continuing battle against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and his being the “Father of Malasakit Centers” in the country.

The Cebu Central Eagles Club (CCEC) of The Fraternal Order of Eagles (TFOE) – Philippine Eagles held its chartering and induction ceremony on Friday night at Bai Hotel in Mandaue City.

According to its Facebook page TFOE-Philippine Eagles is the first-born fraternal socio-civic organization in the country.

Senators Go, Emmanuel Pacquiao and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, and Camamam-an Himologan Eagles Club adviser Marlon Bongay delivered their virtual messages to congratulate the charter club officer and members.

Go received the Service Award during a pre-chartering event from TFOE Central Visayas Region governor Romulo Carrillo Jr. and CCEC Charter president John Rey Saavedra, recognizing his works which led to the passage of Republic Act 11463, the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong suporta kay Presidente Rody Duterte na isa rin na Kuya ng Eagles at sa inyong pagtitiwala sa mga ginagawa ng gobyerno lalo na sa pagbubukas ng mga Malasakit Centers buong bansa (Thank you very much for supporting President Rodrigo Duterte who is also a brother Eagle like you an in your trust to what the government is doing, most especially in opening more Malasakit Centers nationwide),” Go said.

Go, chair of the Senate committee on health and demography unveiled the 95th Malasakit Center at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City last Dec. 11.

The club also approved a resolution declaring Go as its "adopted charter member" after awarding the service plaque to him.

Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino also commended Duterte and Go for their works against Covid-19 in his speech during CCEC’s chartering rites.

“Cebu was the most prepared city in the country against Covid-19 in terms of logistics. OPAV (Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas) helped the local government unit in opening three isolation areas in North Reclamation, South Road Properties, and the Sacred Heart facility and the establishment of PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing laboratories,” he said, citing the government ability to bring down coronavirus cases because of responses.

He told the fraternity members that the city government here has saved millions of pesos due to cheaper test kits.

The CCEC received its charter grant from the national leadership of TFOE represented by past national president David “Kuya Boy” Odilao Jr. and Carrillo.

About 50 men from different professions, business aggrupation, media entities, government agencies, PR, and branding firms, took their oath as charter members as Saavedra was installed as charter president for eagle year 2020-2021.

Apart from Go and Dino, National Commission of Senior Citizens chair, Secretary Franklin Quijano, who is also an Eagle, graced the occasion and inspired the newly inducted Eagles to soar high in their future endeavors as a socio-civic fraternity. (PNA)
