ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city government has allocated some PHP200 million in its budget for next year to buy coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said Saturday front-liners and the vulnerable population, including senior citizens, will be prioritized for vaccines.

Miravite also clarified that the vaccination will not be compulsory.

“We need their consent to be vaccinated, and if they don’t want, we will not force them,” she said.

Miravite said the local government will also allocate funds to employ at least 780 contact tracers.

She noted that the city also has a pool of trained personnel assigned to conduct tracing and testing in the barangays. (PNA)
