ZAMBOANGA CITY--The Department of Education (DepEd) here is willing to join the national government's face-to-face pilot program.

Dr. Rosalio Conturno Jr., Governance and Operations division chief of the DepEd's City Schools Division, said Saturday an elementary and a secondary school might be chosen in a barangay with zero coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case to join the program.

“Maybe we would implement it first in an island barangay and a hinterland school,” Conturno said.

The national government, through the DepEd central office, is expected to adopt Model 11325 for the face-to-face dry run scheduled from January 11 to 23 next year.

Under the program, 20 learners under one section will meet once a week for a maximum of three hours to focus on five learning areas.

Conturno said they have done surveys to determine the parents' willingness to introduce the face-to-face classes.

He said the modular teaching system will continue since the number of students is limited in the face-to-face classes. (PNA)
