Cop in viral shooting video surrenders to Rosales police

ROSALES, Pangasinan – A police officer involved in the shooting of a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac has surrendered to the police here.

In a radio interview on Monday, Maj. Fernando Fernandez said that suspect, P/Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca, 46, assigned at the City Crime Laboratory of Parañaque City turned himself in on Sunday evening following the shooting incident.

"He feared for his life as the victims have relatives in Paniqui, Tarlac who might have grudges against him for what he did," Fernando said.

He added that the suspect did not disclose the reason for surrender to the Rosales town police.

Nuezca is a native of Urdaneta City but currently residing at Barangay Cabayaoasan in Paniqui.

"He has surrendered his issued firearm, which he used to shot the victims. He will not only face criminal charges but also administrative case," Fernando said.

The suspect shot Sonya Gregorio, 52, and Frank Gregorio, 25, outside their residence on Sunday afternoon following an altercation.

He escaped from the crime scene and on the same day surrendered to the police here.

He was transferred to the Paniqui Police Station.
