BUTUAN CITY – Tropical Depression Vicky destroyed in Agusan del Sur some PHP264.3 million worth of crops, properties, and infrastructures, officials said.

"Vicky" also affected thousands of families, especially in the town of Prosperidad, when the storm hit the province and several other areas in Caraga Region last week, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Armando Gomez said Wednesday.

The other towns heavily affected include San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, and Talacogon, Gomez said.

He said the damage to houses totaled PHP8.1 million, affecting 28,227 in 14 towns.

At least, 10,583 families had to be evacuated from their homes, Gomez said.

“Of all infrastructures, the roads were greatly damaged due to Vicky. Some roads have major scouring,” Gomez said.

"Vicky" caused the worst flooding in years in Rosario and San Francisco towns, with floodwaters reaching as far as rooftops.

Gomez said the losses could still increase as the PDRRMO is still assessing the extent of damage in the affected areas.

Vicky (international name Krovanh) was the Philippines’ 22nd tropical cyclone for 2020 and the first for December. (PNA)
