ZAMBOANGA CITY--Police arrested nine drug personalities and seized some PHP333,200 worth of illegal drugs here and in Isabela City, Basilan province, an official of the Police Regional Office-Region 9 (PRO-9) said Tuesday.
Capt. Edwin Duco, PRO-9 information officer, identified the suspects as Alex Marabi, 41; Genalyn Lumamog, 27; Roel Rolona, 45; Midzfar Pawaki, 35; Randy Medallo, 35; Adzlan Asmawil, 22; Mudzmar Asmawil, 20; Shadie Hallang, 23; and Rodolfo Monte, 22.
Marabi and Lumamog were arrested in possession of some PHP90,000 worth of suspected shabu, a coin purse, and PHP500 marked money in a buy-bust around 1 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Zambowood.
Rolona, meanwhile, yielded some PHP15,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust around 9 p.m. Monday in Barangay Mercedes.
Pawaki and Medallo, on the other hand, yielded some PHP150,000 worth of suspected shabu, a black pouch, and PHP200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust around 11 p.m. Monday in Barangay Talon-Talon.
Police said the two Asmawils and Hallang were arrested in a buy-bust around 4:20 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sumagdang, Isabela City. They allegedly yielded some PHP74,800 worth of suspected shabu and other pieces of evidence.
Police said Monte yielded some PHP3,400 worth of suspected shabu and PHP300 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust around 7 p.m. Monday in Barangay Port Area, Isabela City.
Authorities are set to file criminal charges against the suspects. (PNA)
