DAVAO CITY –  The province of Davao Oriental will start implementing its quick response (QR) code system on January 18, a statement from the provincial office said Thursday.

Davao Oriental provincial health officer Dr. Reden Bersaldo, said the online registration kick-off will be on January 11, and all establishments and offices in the province must start requiring QR codes from their visitors and employees before being allowed entry in their premises.

Before the online registration, the province already launched a massive manual registration for all its constituents aged 15-65 years old.

The QR code cards of those who have manually registered will soon be released thru their villages, Bersaldo said.

“The January 11 online registration is for Davao Oriental residents aged below 15 and more than 65; residents that are living outside the province; and non-residents or tourists,” he said.

The link for the QR code online registration will be posted on the official Facebook page of the Province of Davao Oriental starting January 11, he said.

He appealed to the public to provide accurate information along with a valid ID during the registration so that their application will be accepted.

He said border checkpoints will start checking QR codes of travelers in February 2021.

No QR code could mean denial of entry into the province, he added. (PNA)
