MANILA – The number of basketball players who have formally declared for the PBA Draft totaled 27 on Friday as more marquee names submitted their applications.

Highlighting the latest wave of applicants for the preseason event are players from the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 – Manila Chooks TM's Alvin Pasaol, Santi Santillan, and Troy Rike, Butuan-Uling Roasters' Franky Johnson, and Bacolod - Master Sardines' Anton Asistio.

Also entering the draft are former Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) players Josh Torralba, Nick Demusis, and Jed Mendoza.

The high-flying Demusis starred for Bacoor City, while Mendoza played for Biñan City.

Torralba, on the other hand, helped bring Makati to the MPBL North Division Finals, which was stalled indefinitely due to the pandemic.

The MPBL has yet to respond to the Games and Amusements Board's call for the club leagues to become professional mainly for them to resume amid the pandemic, putting more questions as to when the playoffs would resume.

The 2021 PBA Draft, the first draft to take place online, will happen on March 14. (PNA)
