MANILA – Passengers of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) may now sign up for the train service’s contact tracing app a few days before its soft launch on Monday.
In a Facebook post, the MRT-3 said its "MRT-3 Trace" app allows its users to provide contact tracing details using only Google Chrome on their mobile devices and is meant to replace the manual forms and log sheets that are currently required before entering any MRT-3 stations.
Full implementation of the app will begin in February.
In joining the app's soft launch, one may visit trace.dotrmrt3.gov.ph and provide all the required information to complete the registration process.
After registration, they may log in using their username (mobile number) and password.
“Kung hindi pa naka-on ang geolocation ng iyong cellphone, maaaring mag-alert ang web browser na i-on ang location. Piliin lang ang Allow (If your phone’s geolocation is not active, your web browser may ask you to turn it on. Press Allow),” the post read.
After login, users may now begin filling out their contact tracing form by choosing their entry and exit stations, keying in their body temperature based on the temperature check made by MRT-3 security personnel, and answer questions on Covid-19 symptoms.
“Para ma-access ang contact tracing form, sa iyong profile, pindutin ang ‘Geo-Ride’ o ‘Scan Ride’ (To access the contact tracing form, in your profile, press ‘Geo-Ride’ or ‘Scan Ride’),” the post read.
The final step in using the app is scanning a QR code posted in every entry station and showing the app’s confirmation to MRT-3 personnel before entry.
For ease of access to the MRT-3 Trace app, users may add a shortcut to the home screen of their mobile device by visiting the website using Google Chrome, press the three dots at the right side of the address bar, and press "Add to Home screen".
In a press release Tuesday, the MRT-3 announced the impending soft launch of its MRT-3 Trace web application that is meant to ease the contact tracing process and further lessen physical contact to avoid further spread of Covid-19.
Passengers without smartphones may still opt to manually fill-out the health declaration forms provided by MRT-3 security personnel on entry even beyond the full implementation of the app in February. (PNA)
