ZAMBOANGA CITY – The point-to-point inter-provincial bus scheme here in the Zamboanga Peninsula will start Saturday.
Derek Evangelista, Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) head, on Wednesday said that under this scheme buses plying the cities of Zamboanga, Pagadian, Dipolog, and the municipality of Ipil cannot drop off or pick up passengers in barangays or municipalities in between the point of origin and destination.
Likewise, the "straight bus travel" scheme does not allow a restroom break in areas between the point of origin and destination.
Evangelista said that a passenger manifest system would be adopted to ensure that those who boarded at the point of origin must be the same who will disembark at the point of destination.
All passengers must secure the complete travel documents required by the local government unit at the point of destination before they can purchase a bus ticket, he added.
“Incomplete requirements mean no bus ticket. The ticket should be purchased two days before the scheduled departure,” Evangelista said.
No walk-in passenger will also be allowed to buy any ticket on the same day of travel under a P2P scheme, except in emergency cases.
However, Evangelista said the passengers would be required to present proof of emergency covering matters on family and medical concerns and present the required travel documents. (PNA)
