MANILA – Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao due to a low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the weather bureau said Monday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin that the LPA was last spotted 100 kilometers southwest of Cotabato City.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the tail-end of the frontal system affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon will also be experienced over the Bicol Region, Quezon, and the rest of Region 4-B (Mimaropa).

The northeast monsoon affecting the rest of Luzon will bring light rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and the rest of Calabarzon, and isolated light rains over the rest of the island.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
