PLARIDEL, Bulacan – Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go is continuously bringing assistance to Bulakenyos.

On Tuesday, the senator met with 1,273 market and "talipapa" (mini community market) vendors in this town and provided them with meals, food packs, masks, and face shields.

Go also distributed 30 bicycles to selected recipients which they can use in commuting to work given the limited public transportation due to community quarantine restrictions.

The senator also gave away tablets to selected recipients for their children to use while adapting to the blended learning scheme being implemented in schools.

“Ang mga magulang natin nagpapakamatay sa pagtatrabaho para po may maipagpaaral lang sa mga anak. Kaya mga kabataan mag-aral kayong mabuti bilang ganti sa inyong mga magulang na nagtatrabaho para sa inyo. ‘Yun lang po ang magpapasaya sa mga magulang na mag-aral ng mabuti ang kanilang mga anak (Our parents are working hard so that their children can study. Thus, you, the youth, study well as gratitude to your parents who are working for you. That alone can make parents happy),” Go said.

Through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, each of the 1,273 beneficiaries in this town will also receive PHP3,000 as financial assistance under its Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

The Department of Agriculture, on the other hand, will assist the vendors through its Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita financial grant assistance program after conducting an assessment.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) headed by Marie Louise U. Serojale of the Charity Concerns Office under General Manager Royina M. Garma also provided the vendors with food bags, each with five kilos of rice and blankets.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), meanwhile, assessed and validated possible beneficiaries for its livelihood support while the Department of Health (DOH) provided them surgical masks, soap, and vitamins.

“Ito po ay programa ng ating Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte na sama-samang pagbibigay ng tulong ng lahat ng ahensiya ng gobyerno para sa mga mahihirap (This is a program of our President Rodrigo R. Duterte, where government agencies collectively provide assistance to the poor),” Go said.

The senator likewise urged those with medical concerns to reach out to his team as he pledged to help them obtain the needed treatment in some hospitals in Manila.

He also informed Bulakenyos about the Malasakit Centers in DOH-run hospitals in the province where they can conveniently apply for financial and medical assistance.

With regard to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program, Go said priority will be given to the poor once the vaccines become available.

“President Duterte and I will continue to be at your service because we believe that serving the people is a way of serving God,” he said.

After bringing assistance to the vendors here, the senator and his team proceeded to Barangay Tabing Ilog in Marilao town, this province to distribute similar assistance to some 200 families who lost their houses due to fire last Thursday. (PNA)
