DAVAO CITY – The implementation of the Safe Davao Quick Response (DQR) code for all individuals entering offices and establishments will become compulsory starting February 3.

"Based on the pilot testing, the system can now function for the purpose it was developed. Thus, (the) mandatory implementation of its use can now proceed," Mayor Sara Z. Duterte said in an executive order released Thursday.

The order directs all offices and establishments in the city to scan the DQR of all individuals entering their premises or post their establishment's DQR for scanning by individuals.

Exemptions include offices and establishments that are not enclosed or are not inside a structure with a roof and walls, such as commercial stalls, ambulant vendors, sari-sari stores, bakeshops, open markets, and buildings that contain several offices or stores inside, such as malls, hospitals, commercial complexes.

The local Information Communication Technology data showed that about 1.8 million individuals have registered to the Safe DQR, along with 77,000 listed establishments.

The Safe DQR has begun sending text messages to individuals who were in the same place and time as a person who has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), based on case investigation. (PNA)
