MANILA – Medical front-liners and uniformed personnel would be prioritized in voters registration in offices of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the National Capital Region (NCR).
In a Twitter post on Thursday, Commissioner Rowena Guanzon posted the memorandum of Comelec-NCR director lawyer Jubilee Surmieda stating the order to all election officers in the region.
“Priority lane for medical front-liners during voter registration in NCR,” she said in her Twitter account, @rowena_guanzon.
The memorandum was signed on January 27.
Aside from medical front-liners, also to be given priority in registration centers in Metro Manila are members of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army among others.
“Hence, please assign a priority lane in your respective offices for our health workers (doctors, nurses, medical technologist, etc.) and uniformed personnel (police, soldiers, public order and safety officer, etc.), who will apply for registration or avail of our services,” it said.
Earlier, the poll body official reported that they have so far received over 1.1 million applications.
The Comelec aims to register 4 million new voters.
The voter registration nationwide resumed last September 1 and will run until September 30, 2021.
All Offices of Election Officer are ready to accept applications from Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Aside from applications of new registrants, applications for transfer and reactivation of voter records, and the change of name or correction of entries on record are also being accepted.
They also accept requests to include a person's record in the book of voters and the reinstatement of a person's name in the voter's list. (PNA)
