P45-M smuggled medicines, fake goods seized in Las Piñas

MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Thursday reported the seizure of various goods including smuggled medicines and counterfeit items worth PHP45 million in Las Piñas City.

In a statement, the bureau said a team headed by Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (MICP-CIIS) discovered the items during an inspection at a storage facility located in Barangay Almanza on Jan. 28.

Among those discovered was a clinic containing various Chinese medicines, cigarettes, and counterfeit goods such as bags and food items.

Customs officials are conducting a further inventory of the goods for the possible filing of charges for violation of Section 1400 of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

The operation was conducted in coordination the with Philippine Coast Guard and the National Bureau of Investigation. (PNA)
