MANILA – Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian, tired of getting angry all the time, met with representatives of telecommunications companies (telcos) on Friday and asked them to step up their efforts to address network issues and intermittent connectivity problems.
Gatchalian and representatives of Internet service providers, including major companies PLDT, Converge, and Globe, met to discuss connectivity issues and complaints raised by his constituents.
“We are enabling an environment to solve the problems of Internet connectivity issues," he said in a Facebook post. "I can only get mad so much but at the end of the day, we have to find solutions to improve the Internet services in the city."
Gatchalian cited some plans to resolve the problems.
"The solution is to bring all Internet providers to join the #CommonPole Project," he said. "Internet providers can expand their network by installing and laying aerial cables in common poles in major roads, avoiding tangled, messy, and unidentified wires."
Gatchalian has been very expressive about his frustration over telcos' sloppy Internet services as he cited the importance of reliable Internet connection amid the shift to online classes and work-from-home setup. (PNA)
