MANILA – The Quezon City government conducted a simulation exercise of its automated coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccination program on Friday.
The dry run was spearheaded by the Quezon City General Hospital, together with Zuellig Pharma Corp.
“Gamit ang app na EzVax, digitalized at magiging centralized na ang pre-screening, at scheduling ng pagbibigay ng bakuna sa mga health care worker (Using the EzVax application, the pre-screening and scheduling of vaccination for health care workers would become centralized),” the QC government said on its Facebook page on Friday.
Through the same application, a patient’s medical history and his schedule to receive the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine could be easily accessed.
Meanwhile, Mayor Joy Belmonte tasked the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU), the city’s law and safety enforcement teams, and barangay officials to strengthen their efforts in implementing the minimum public health safety protocols.
Belmonte emphasized that health protocols to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 must be strictly imposed at all times.
“We have observed that the public is becoming lax in taking Covid precautions. But we’d like to remind them that the virus is still very much in our midst, and this could possibly include a number of its variants. This is no time to relax,” Belmonte told officials during their meeting.
As of Friday, the city has recorded 1,007 active Covid-19 cases.
However, QC also has a high percentage of recovery rate at 94 percent or 30,605 recoveries.
About 837 individuals in the city have succumbed to the disease.
Dr. Rolando Cruz, CESU chief, said they were looking forward to an immediate and smooth vaccination rollout once the vaccines arrive and become available in the country.
The city government has already identified 26 vaccination sites but is still recommending the setup of more sites, especially In areas with a high incidence of Covid-19. (PNA)
