MANILA – The anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) rescued a kidnapped Taiwanese national in Parañaque City, PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas said on Wednesday.

Citing reports from the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), Sinas said Wu Keng Hao, a Taiwanese national, was rescued at Pearl Marina building in Parañaque City after coordination with the security personnel of the establishment at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Sinas said the rescue operations stemmed from a report regarding the kidnapping of a Taiwanese national.

“During the rescue, the kidnapped victim was alone inside the room and there were no suspects guarding him. Rest assured the PNP will investigate the matter and continue manhunt operations against the kidnappers,” Sinas said.

Based on AKG initial investigation, the victim applied for work at Telegram Apps on Feb. 26 through a social media platform operated by China Company (Yinghuang Yule E) with an agreed monthly salary of 13,000 RMB (about PHP87,100).

On the same day, Wu was fetched by a Filipino driver and an alleged Chinese employee of Yinghuang Yule Company and brought the victim to hotel in Pasay City for quarantine purposes.

He was billeted at Room 607 when another Chinese national arrived allegedly to fetch him for Covid-19 testing. However, the Taiwanese national refused after sensing that he was in danger.

On Feb. 28, the victim was fetched by another group of Chinese nationals and brought him to Las Piñas City and told him that he was being sold for 30,000RMB (PHP201,000) to another unidentified POGO company.

On March 1, the 3rd POGO company sold the helpless victim for another 30,000RMB to another POGO company, a 3+7 company with its office address in Pearl Marina Plaza, Pacific Avenue, Parañaque City.

Investigation later showed that the Unit 2824 where he was rescued is one of the isolation facilities of the 3+7 company. (PNA)
