MANILA – In celebration of International Women's Month, female boxing medalists will grace the first episode of the Philippine Sports Commission's (PSC) "Rise Up! Shape Up!" series for March.

Irish Magno, Aira Villegas Josie Gabuco, and Riza Pasuit will be the online show's special guests for Saturday.

They will talk about how they became successful in a predominantly male sport like boxing as their advocacy for gender equality continues.

It is also more of a way too early Mother's Day treat as the lady pugs will also discuss how their respective moms helped them achieve the success they have attained.

“We’ve seen many athletes who dedicate their success to their parents, particularly their mothers. It is very important to recognize that while an athlete’s achievement is his or her own, a part of it is attributable to the support given to him or her by the family,” PSC's Women in Sports oversight commissioner Celia Kiram said.

Boxing success is not the only agenda in the upcoming web episode as Riza Ng, a licensed psychologist and founding member of the Philippine Association of Child and Play, will also give a short talk on mindful parenting and shares tips on how to practice mindfulness in the various parenting styles.

Rise Up! Shape Up! airs every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. on the said show's official Facebook and YouTube pages. (PNA)
