Covid-19 recoveries in PH up by 281; total now 547K

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Saturday that 281 people afflicted with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have recovered, raising the total to 547,166. 

In its latest bulletin, the agency also recorded 5,000 new infections that brought the number of active cases to 56,679.

At least 72 new fatalities due to Covid-19 were also reported, bringing the death toll to 12,766 or 2.07 percent of the overall case count.

The number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic is 616,611, at least 88.7 percent of whom have recovered while 9.2 percent are undergoing treatment.

The DOH said 92.3 percent of the active cases are mild, 4.3 percent are asymptomatic, 0.66 percent are moderate, 1.4 percent are in critical condition, and 1.4 percent are severe.

On bed capacity, some 1,026 or about 54 percent of the total 1,900 intensive care unit beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients are still available.

Also unoccupied are 62 percent of the 13,500 isolation beds and 71 percent of the 6,000 ward beds for these patients. (PNA)
