MANILA – Skyway Stage 3 remains open to motorists after the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) denied on Tuesday ordering the indefinite closure of the expressway.

“This is to inform the public that the TRB did not issue a decision or directive ordering the indefinite closure of the SS3 starting 5 p.m. of 16 March 2021,” the TRB said in a statement. "The position of the TRB and its management is to keep Skyway Stage 3 open for the benefit of all motorists.”

On Monday, SMC Infrastructure announced the indefinite closure of the expressway “in accordance” with a directive from the TRB.

In a text message, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) president and chief operating officer of the Ramon Ang, confirmed that the SS3 will remain open.

“I have just talked to [Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur] Tugade. He will take care of TRB. No closure,” Ang said.

The 18-kilometers SS3 was fully opened toll-free to motorists on Jan. 15, with the TRB yet to approve the proposed toll rates for the seven-lane expressway. (PNA)
