CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The provincial government here has set up another isolation facility as part of its proactive response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Located in Mexico town, the facility was previously used as an evacuation center and modified to be used by asymptomatic and mild cases of Covid-19.

It has four buildings, including three container vans from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), with a 194-bed capacity.

Dr. Dax Tidula, incident commander of the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) said on Tuesday the facility will be manned by doctors, nurses, and other personnel to assist and address the needs of patients.

Governor Dennis Pineda, for his part, said in an official social media post, “Bahagi po ito ng laban natin sa Covid-19. Ituloy po natin ang pag-iingat at disiplina para pigilin ang pagkalat ng virus (This is part of our fight against Covid-19. Let us continue to take extra caution in order to prevent the spread of the virus),”

He clarified that there is no lockdown in the province amid the rising Covid-19 cases.

“Wala pa po tayong announcement for lockdown. Pero, it depends kung magkakaroon ng surge. Baka ma-pwersa po ako. Pero kung mag-iingat tayo, hindi tayo aabot sa ganun (We have no announcement yet for lockdown. But it depends if there will be surge. I might be forced to do it, However, if we take extra caution, we will not reach that point),” Pineda said.

Last year, the provincial government established a quarantine facility at the north wing of the NGAC in New Clark City.

It has a 311-bed capacity and is being used by returning Kapampangans from abroad under the provincial government’s “Balik Pinas, Balik Pampanga” program. (PNA)
