MANILA – The operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will be suspended from March 30 (Holy Tuesday) to April 4 (Easter Sunday), as part of the rail service’s annual intensified maintenance and rehabilitation works.

Ibig sabihin, walang biyahe ang mga tren ng linya sa mga nasabing petsa (This means there will be no train operation during said dates),” the MRT-3 said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Aside from the annual maintenance works, it said the temporary shutdown will allow the replacement of turnouts at the MRT-3 Depot, replacement of point machines, and installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) units.

Ang mga turnouts ay ginagamit upang makalipat ang isang tren mula sa isang track patungo sa ibang track (Turnouts are used to transfer a train from one track to another),” the MRT-3 said.

A point machine, it said, controls the operation of railway turnouts at the MRT-3 Control Center.

Mahalagang bahagi ang mga ito ng isang railway system para maging maayos ang railway signaling at pagpapatakbo ng mga tren (These are important parts of a railway system that allow for proper railway signaling and train operations),” the MRT-3 said. (PNA)
