MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported that 390 individuals have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total recoveries to 561,902, or 86.7 percent of all Covid-19 infections in the country.
In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 7,103 new infections, the highest number of infections the country has recorded in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
“Patuloy na nananawagan na manatili na lamang tayo sa ating mga tahanan at iwasang lumabas kung hindi naman talaga kinakailangan (We continue to call on the public to stay at home and to avoid stepping outside when unnecessary),” the DOH said.
To help curb the current surge of infections, it also asked the public to comply with minimum public health standards such as regular hand washing or sanitizing, wearing of face masks and face shields, observing proper physical distancing, among others.
To date, the country’s active cases sit at 73,264 or 11.3 percent of all infections in the country.
Of these active cases, it said the majority at 93.9 percent are showing mild symptoms of the disease, followed by the asymptomatic at 3.3 percent, those in critical condition at 1 percent, those experiencing severe symptoms at 1.1 percent, and those with moderate cases at 0.59 percent.
Some 13 new deaths were also recorded, with the country’s casualties against Covid-19 now at 12,900 or 1.99 percent of all infections.
Meanwhile, over half of the beds and other medical facilities available to Covid-19 patients are currently in use.
In particular, 51 percent of the 1,900 beds in intensive care units are in use, 60 percent of 13,500 beds are utilized, 65 percent of ward beds are utilized, and 69 percent of the country’s 2,000 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
