281 health protocol violators nabbed in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – At least 281 health protocol violators have been arrested since the strict implementation of new quarantine measures started in this province on Saturday.

Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay, director of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office, said on Sunday that the individuals were arrested for violation of Executive Order No. 5 -2021 which was issued by Governor Dennis Pineda on March 19. The measure requires social distancing, mandatory wearing of face mask and face shield and imposes liquor ban and curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The order is in effect from March 20 until April 5, this year.

Of the arrested violators, 63 are residents of this city; Mabalacat City, 39; Porac, 31; Sasmuan, 25; San Luis and Sta. Ana, 21 each; Sta. Rita, 15; Apalit, 14; Lubao, nine; Guagua, San Simon, Mexico and Arayat, eight each; Masantol, four; Floridablanca, three; and Bacolor and Magalang, two each.

Ibay said the arrested violators were brought to their respective city and municipal police stations for documentation and proper disposition.

He urged the public to stay home as much as possible to stop the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

On March 20, there were 92 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the province, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,804, out of which 879 are active infections.

The total number of recoveries is 7,471 while the number of deaths is 454. (PNA)
