LAOAG CITY – The province of Ilocos Norte has now administered 89.7 percent out of its 2,359 eligible healthcare workers on the third week of the vaccination rollout here, the Provincial Health Task Force said Thursday.
Based on the provisional report to the governor, a total of 1,941 individuals under the priority list received Sinovac while 175 got the AstraZeneca vaccines.
Topping the list of the vaccinated beneficiaries are medical front-liners of the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City, with 98.31 percent.
Others were from at least six public and five private hospitals in the province. No adverse effects following immunization were reported so far.
Dr. Norman Rabago, the provincial health consultant of Ilocos Norte, said Thursday that personnel from the Department of Health will continue to reach out to the different local government units in the province for the administration of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines to its community-based front-liners.
“Those who received Sinovac vaccines are expected to have their second dose 28 days after their first dose while the AstraZeneca vaccine beneficiaries will have their final dose after 58 days,” he said.
Governor Matthew Manotoc said he is satisfied with the result of the vaccine rollout in Ilocos Norte.
During the mock vaccination rollout, less than 50 percent of the healthcare workers wanted to be inoculated but as the vaccines arrived with mostly doctors as the first takers, the undecided majority were convinced to take the shot. (PNA)
