Covid-19 recoveries now 580K, 8.7K new infections: DOH

MANILA – With 574 new recovered cases reported on Thursday, the country's overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries climbed to 580,062.

Latest data from the Department of Health (DOH) show the figure is equivalent to an 83.7-percent recovery rate among those who contracted the disease nationwide.

The agency also logged another single-day record of 8,773 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 99,891 and the country’s total number of cases to 693,048.

Of the active cases, about 95 percent are mild, 3 percent are asymptomatic, 0.8 percent are severe, 0.44 are moderate, and 0.8 percent are in critical condition.

Also logged were 56 more deaths, pushing the death toll to 13,095.

"Some 36 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 23 were recovered cases. Moreover, seven cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation," the DOH said.

Currently, 54 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 43 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 41 percent of 6,000 ward beds dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are utilized.

About 36 percent of 2,000 ventilators are also utilized by patients with Covid-19.

The agency reminded the public anew to stay at home and to observe minimum health standards when going out for essential needs to avoid further spread of coronavirus. (PNA)
