'Pulong' distributes cash, rice aid to fire victims

DAVAO CITY – The office of 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte distributed cash aid and rice packs to 84 individuals affected by a fire incident in Barangay 5-A Pag-asa in Bankerohan, this city on Sunday.

The fire gutted 13 houses and partially damaged 15 other houses on April 1, leaving the victims homeless. They were temporarily sheltered at a gymnasium in the area.

Each of the recipients who are either house owners, sharers, boarders, or renters received cash assistance and a 10-kilo pack of rice from the lawmaker’s office.

Davao Fire District Intelligence and Investigation Office head SFO4 Ramil Gillado said the blaze started on the first floor of the two-story house of a certain Ramon John Solite. The total amount of damage to properties was estimated at PHP500,000.

Barangay 5-A village chief Edgar Ibuyan Jr. expressed his gratitude to the congressman for the help given to the affected families.

The district office has been giving food packs not only to its constituents but also to those from other areas of Davao who are in need of immediate assistance amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis. (PNA)
