CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – More than PHP200,000 worth of shabu were confiscated by the police as two suspects, including a woman, were arrested in successive anti-drug operations here Sunday afternoon.

Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, head of the Nueva Ecija police's drug enforcement unit, on Monday identified the arrested individuals as Valerie Ann Santin, 36, and Albert Castro, 41, both of Barangay Cruz Roja, this city.

Desamito said Santin yielded three sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP10,880 in a buy-bust operation in their village at around 12:35 p.m.

However, her live-in partner, Allan Castro, 43, was able to escape, police said.

The younger Castro, the former's brother, on the other hand, was arrested in another buy-bust in Barangay Lourdes, also of this city, at about 2:10 p.m., according to the authorities.

Operatives seized from him 26 plastic sachets of shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP193,120.

Desamito said police also recovered from the suspects the marked bills used to buy drugs.

Charges in violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law were filed against the suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office. (PNA)
