ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Health in Region 9 (DOH-9) announced that it is sending a medical team to augment health workers who have been battling a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Dr. Joshua Brillantes, DOH-9 director, said Tuesday they will send their “first batch of volunteers” consisting of 12 nurses and medical technologists to NCR hospitals on April 12.
Brillantes said the deployment of medical volunteers is in response to the call for help as the health workers in the NCR areas are exhausted in addressing the surge in Covid-19 cases.
“We are recruiting for volunteers that we will send to the NCR since they are asking for help as the medical workers there are already exhausted,” he said.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has extended the enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region and the neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal known as 'NCR Plus' until April 11.
Meanwhile, Brillantes said they are scheduled to start the inoculation of the “A2 priorities” in the vaccination program.
Brillantes said these include senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
He encouraged the senior citizens to register in preparation for the inoculation.
He advised those with comorbidities to secure medical certificates, which they need to present along with their prescription when they register to be inoculated. (PNA)
