COTABATO CITY – Minister Mohaqher Iqbal of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education– Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MBHTE-BARMM) has vowed to ensure transparency and accountability in the recruitment and hiring of new teachers for Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.

Iqbal made this assurance on Thursday after more than 4,000 teacher-applicants have submitted their job application for the 200 vacant teaching positions in the two provinces.

“The situation has been challenging since not all will be hired,” Iqbal said, adding that they have to select those most qualified for the vacant items. He said in Lanao del Sur, more than 2,000 applicants are being screened for appointments for the limited number of vacancies.

The same number of applicants are aspiring to be hired for Maguindanao, he added.

In BARMM, Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur have the highest number of teachers and students with two school divisions each.

“No position is for sale,” Iqbal assured the applicants. (PNA)
