LAOAG CITY – The City Health Office in Batac City, Ilocos Norte was indefinitely closed on Thursday to give way for decontamination and sanitation after one of its personnel tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

During the closure, the advisory said, “only select personnel will be on call”, while the others will be on self-quarantine.

As of April 7, some 10 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Batac City, making the total active cases rise to 39.

Mayor Albert Chua said there is no need to lock down the affected area as the "Covid-19 situation remains to be under control."

He, however, appealed to residents to remain vigilant and practice minimum health standards at all times. (PNA
