MANILA – Authorities have nabbed South Korea's two most-wanted online fraud suspects in Parañaque City, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Gen. Debold Sinas, said Tuesday night.

Yu Daewoong, 39, and Kang Wesung, 36, both subjects of a red notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), were arrested in separate operations on Tuesday.

Sinas said Yu was arrested at 11:15 a.m. at No. 100 Hawaii Street, Parañaque City while Kang was arrested at 12:15 p.m. in Miami Tower, Penthouse 20, Azure Urban Resort Residences by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and agents of the Bureau of Immigration.

Citing information from the South Korean Police attaché, he said Yu and Kang are the second and fourth most-wanted online fraud criminals, respectively, in Seoul.

“The arrest of these international fugitives is part of the commitment of the Philippine government as a member of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-Interpol) to assist member states in the arresting wanted fugitives," Sinas said.

The two are under the custody of the CIDG for documentation and proper disposition, he added. (with Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
