MANILA – Catholic prelates are asking for prayers for the fast healing of several personnel of the church-run Radio Veritas who contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Archdiocese of Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo asked for prayers for the immediate healing and safety of the workers of the radio station.

"I’m one with Radio Veritas and asking for prayers to our Kapanaligs to pray for the workers at Radio Veritas and those that have tested positive to recover fast and their sickness will not deteriorate,” he said in a radio interview.

Pabillo issued the appeal after the main studio of the church-run radio station in Quezon City has been temporarily lockdown since April 14 when 10 staff members of the station tested positive for Covid-19.

He also lauded the church's management as it continues to operate despite the current situation.

"I’m thankful to Radio Veritas for continuing its service despite the present situation," Pabillo said.

On the other hand, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Archbishop Romulo Valles is also offering prayers to the affected employees of the radio station.

He also reminded the public to be cautious and strictly follow the safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

"My prayers for the healing and safety of your colleagues in Radio Veritas. We should always be cautious and follow safety protocol," the Davao archbishop said.

The radio station has intensified contact tracing of those who were in contact with the staff that have tested positive and also for other employees to undergo swab testing.

The main office of Radio Veritas at Veritas Tower 162 West Avenue corner Edsa in Quezon City has been temporarily closed for disinfection.

The station is temporarily using its transmitter in Taliptip, Bulacan, to be able to continue its operations on air. (PNA)
