MANILA – Parts of Luzon, as well as Northern Samar, will continue to experience rains as Typhoon Bising (Surigae) maintains its strength, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. update Tuesday.
Moderate to heavy rains will continue over Catanduanes, while light to moderate, and at times heavy rains will prevail over the eastern portion of Quezon, Camarines provinces, Sorsogon, Albay, and Northern Samar.
Flooding and rain-induced landslides are still likely, especially in areas identified in hazard maps as highly susceptible to these hazards, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
"Bising" packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 215 kph, slowly moving north northwestward. It was last tracked 475 km. east of Infanta, Quezon.
Tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 1 remains hoisted over the eastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Peñablanca, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Aparri), the eastern portion of Isabela (San Pablo, Maconacon, Divilacan, Ilagan, Palanan), and Catanduanes.
On the other hand, Batanes, the rest of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the rest of Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, the eastern portion of Kalinga (Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tabuk City), the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis, Natonin), the eastern portion of Ifugao (Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista), the northern portion of Aurora (Baler, Dipaculao, Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag), the eastern portion of Quezon (Calauag, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan) including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon, Northern Samar, the northern portion of Samar (Matuguinao), and the northern portion of Eastern Samar (Jipapad, Arteche, San Policarpo, Oras), are under TCWS no. 1.
Very rough to high seas continue to prevail over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon. Rough to high seas will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas.
Rough to very rough seas are also forecast over the western seaboards of northern Luzon (2.8 to 4.5 m), and rough seas over the eastern seaboards of Caraga and Davao Oriental and the remaining seaboards of areas under TCWS.
