MANILA – Typhoon Bising (Surigae) has maintained its strength as it continues to move slowly north-northwestward, the weather bureau said on Tuesday afternoon.
"Bising" packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph. It was last seen 475 km east of Baler, Aurora province.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said light to moderate, with at times heavy rains will be experienced over Camarines provinces, Catanduanes, and the eastern portion of Quezon.
Flooding and rain-induced landslides are highly likely to occur especially in areas identified in hazard maps as highly susceptible.
Tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 2 remains hoisted over the eastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Peñablanca, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Aparri), the eastern portion of Isabela (San Pablo, Maconacon, Divilacan, Ilagan, Palanan, San Mariano, Dinapigue), the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag), and Catanduanes.
On the other hand, Batanes, the rest of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, the rest of Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, Kalinga, the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Barlig, Natonin, Paracelis, Sadanga, Bontoc), the eastern portion of Ifugao (Banaue, Lagawe, Mayoyao, Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Hingyon), the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Diadi), the central portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Baler), the eastern portion of Quezon (Calauag, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan) including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur remain under TCWS no. 1.
PAGASA forecast "Bising" to gradually weaken and could be downgraded to a severe tropical storm category over the weekend.
Very rough to high seas continue over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, and rough to high seas still prevail over the northern and eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas.
Rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the western seaboards of northern Luzon, and rough seas over the eastern seaboards of Caraga and Davao Oriental and the remaining seaboards of areas under TCWS.
