MANILA – The country’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recovery tally climbed to 829,608 after 19,699 new survivors were reported on Wednesday.
The latest data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed an 86.2-percent recovery rate from a cumulative total of 962,307 cases.
The DOH also logged 9,227 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 116,434.
Of the active cases, about 96.7 percent are mild, 1.3 percent are asymptomatic, 0.8 percent are severe, 0.52 are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.
An additional 124 new deaths, meanwhile, pushed the death toll to 16,265 or 1.69 percent of total cases.
Data submitted on Monday likewise showed that 19.5 percent of 37,235 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.
"Some 26 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 14 were recovered cases. Moreover, 36 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation," the DOH said.
One laboratory was not operational on April 19 while eight labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
Currently, 65 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 49 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, 55 percent of 6,000 ward beds, and 45 percent of 2,000 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 82 percent of 800 intensive care unit beds, 61 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, 70 percent of 2,200 ward beds, and 80 percent of 800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region.
The DOH said the testing numbers reported in the case bulletin will be based on the output from DOH-accredited laboratories two days ago starting April 21 to “minimize the confusion arising from the incomplete data.” (PNA)
