MANILA – Tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) no. 1 has been lifted in Isabela and some areas in Cagayan, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. update Thursday.

However, TCWS no. 1 remains hoisted over Batanes and the northeastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga) including Babuyan Islands.

Typhoon Bising maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

It was last tracked 375 km. east northeast of Calayan, Cagayan, or 320 km east of Basco, Batanes, moving north northeastward at 10 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast strong breeze to near gale conditions with higher gusts over the coastal and mountainous areas of Ilocos Region, Apayao, Abra, and the western portion of Cagayan in the next 24 hours.

Rough to high seas continue to prevail over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon. Sea travel is risky for all types of seacraft.

Rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the seaboard of Aurora, the seaboards of extreme northern Quezon including the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands, and the northern seaboards of Bicol Region.

Moderate to rough seas still prevail over the eastern seaboard of Bicol Region, northern and eastern seaboard of Northern Samar, and the western seaboard of northern and central Luzon.

"Bising" is forecast to gradually weaken and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility over the weekend. (PNA)
