ILOILO CITY –The municipal police station (MPS) of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo is back to normal operation on Thursday after a mandatory quarantine on April 20 due to its personnel’s exposure to detainees found positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Col. Gilbert Gorero, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), said in a phone interview on Thursday he immediately ordered his men to undergo mandatory quarantine for their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.

The results which came out on April 21 showed that they were negative of the virus.

Gorero, however, did not say how many policemen were quarantined.

The IPPO, meanwhile, deployed police personnel - a team of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, an investigator, and one officer to handle the Women and Children's Desk - to augment the force and assist in keeping the peace and order in the municipality.

“The result yesterday turned out negative, so it’s back to normal (operation),” he said.

To date, none of the personnel of police stations in the province has tested positive for Covid-19 cases.

Every police station in the province has put up its health unit section, Gorero said.

“It is responsible for the monitoring of the health condition of all personnel as well as the implementation of health standards,” he added. (PNA)
