'Bising' weakens into severe tropical storm

MANILA – The weather disturbance "Bising" has weakened into a severe tropical storm, the weather bureau reported Friday afternoon.

"Bising" now packs maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

It was last seen 825 km. east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving northeastward at 15 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast the whole country to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon.

PAGASA said in the next 24 hours, moderate to rough seas will also be experienced over the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon.

Mariners of small seacraft are advised not to venture out over these waters.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, the bureau said. (PNA)
