MANILA – Private companies located in Taguig City have lauded the local government's proactive measures in mitigating the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic on its residents and the local economy.

"Among the cities in the National Capital Region, Taguig has the fewest Covid-19 positive cases which mean that Taguig is doing something right (in) fighting against Covid-19. Even before the first Covid-19 case has been detected, (we're) prepared (via information) drives, testing areas, and isolations. This is very nice (and) we can see that Taguig is one step ahead so we continue to support the city and this fight against Covid-19," Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation chief operating officer Jay Teodoro said in an interview with the Philippine News Agency, during the opening of the city's eighth vaccination hub at the Bonifacio High Street East on Wednesday.

Teodoro also said everyone must contribute to the fight against Covid-19 through complying with health protocols and getting vaccinated with whatever kind of vaccine is available.

He also believes the city's Covid-19 response will help economic activities return to normal quickly.

Meanwhile, Margaret Bengzon, senior health consultant of Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc., (AC Health) lauded the smooth cooperation of the private sector and local government in fighting the pandemic.

"We (are) inspired by the vision and the more than the vision (is the) excellent performance that is something we connect to and respect and admired and we hope that (that this is) just the beginning of an immersive relationship, Covid-19 is the most Important health condition we have to focus, we are looking forward to (strengthen our) partnership to the city of Taguig," she added.

The vaccination facility, operated by the city government in partnership with AC Health is open from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can accommodate 400 vaccinees daily.

Meanwhile, Mayor Lino Cayetano said he is thankful to the city's private sector partners for their commitment to helping reach more people by building accessible vaccination hubs.

Taguig has three other mega vaccination hubs located at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura, Lakeshore area, and Vista Mall Parking Building.

It also has four community vaccine centers established at RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, EM Signal Village Elementary School, and Western Bicutan National High School.

Taguig also launched the Mobile Vaccination Bus, a vaccination bus that will be deployed to selected communities to accommodate 200 vaccinees daily.

As of April 26, Taguig has vaccinated 29,603 residents from priority groups A1-A3; 9,958 healthcare workers, 9,880 senior citizens, and 10,157 persons with comorbidities. A total of 1,517 have received their second dose.

Those wishing to be vaccinated must secure their vaccine registration and generate a QR code through Taguig TRACE. Registrants will then receive their vaccination schedule and venue via SMS or text message.

The healthcare workers will assist only those who have secured their schedule at the vaccination hubs; walk-ins are not allowed. (PNA)
