MANILA – Some 58,000 applications for job hunters were initially received by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the first day of the nationwide online job fair on Saturday.
DOLE figures as of noon showed a total of 58,082 applications submitted to the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Business Fair.
The number of hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) reached 238.
A total of 3,141 are near-hires or individuals who may be considered as hired, but need to submit additional or lacking requirements or may need to attend further interviews or tests.
A total of 52,461 job vacancies are offered from 665 employers in the nationwide online job fairs starting on Labor Day.
Some regions will accept applications until next week.
Of the number of job opportunities, 44,724 are local jobs while 7,737 are job vacancies abroad.
Over 44,000 local vacancies, mostly for production operators, factory workers, customer service representatives, police officers, contact tracers, sewers, mason, and carpenters will be offered by 613 employers.
Meanwhile, over 7,000 overseas jobs will be offered by 52 participating employers.
Most vacancies are for nurses, factory workers, mechanics, nursing aides/ healthcare assistants, and cleaners.
