MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Travelers going to the province of Pangasinan need to register and secure a permit from the Safe, Swift, and Smart Passage (S-PaSS) travel and mobility management system.
Jay-R Dela Peña of the provincial government’s Management Information Services Office said travelers bound for Pangasinan should register at the S-PaSS website and upload necessary documents required by the local government unit (LGU) of their destination.
“Once they upload the documents, the LGU will verify and eventually approve or disapprove the traveler’s entry to the province. A permit will be issued to the travelers if they are approved, which they need to print out or screenshot through their cell(ular) phones,” he said in an interview on Monday.
He added this permit will be presented at checkpoints.
“Through S-PaSS, the traveler will have closer coordination with the LGU while the LGU will be able to trace the travel history of the traveler,” dela Peña said.
He admitted that as of today, only 80 percent of the LGUs are implementing the S-PaSS while some queries and issues are still being deliberated in some areas of the province.
“We are still also continuously informing some LGUs about the system but in the province as a whole, we are already implementing it,” he added.
Dela Peña said each LGU has a corresponding focal person for the travel and mobility management system.
“The following are the step by step process on using S-PaSS to travelers: register account on s-pass.ph, log in the account using phone number, check for travel protocol and restriction, apply for travel coordination permit, upload photo/scanned copy of requirements needed, wait for the application to be approved for a maximum of two days, save/print your approved travel coordination permit (TCP), present your TCP to the checkpoint to scan,” the Pangasinan Provincial Information Office (PIO) said.
S-PaSS is a new paperless app launched by the Department of Science and Technology offering a convenient and safe way to process travel authority online for local travelers.
It will also help LGUs in recording and monitoring in real-time traveler’s information or those going in and out of their respective localities, the PIO added. (PNA)
