LAOAG CITY – Protective gears against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) ranging from personal protective equipment (PPE), modular tents, foam mattresses, bedsheets, pillows, electric fans, chairs and emergency lights, among others, were delivered at the Provincial Capitol Building on Tuesday for medical front-liners who are staying in isolation facilities and hospitals.

Marcel Tabije, provincial disaster risk reduction and management officer in Ilocos Norte, said these came from consolidated donations at the Office of Civil Defense tasked to deliver these items to the provinces.

“For now, we are still consolidating the items and identify the facilities which need it most,” said Tabije in an interview Tuesday.

The first batch of delivered items includes 1,200 KN95 masks, 1,000 boxes surgical face masks, 1,000 medical gloves, 1,200 medical shoe covers, head covers, face shields, disposable surgical gowns, and 1,000 gallons of alcohol.

The second batch of delivery, on the other hand, includes 25 units of bedside tables, 200 units of rechargeable emergency lights, 200 modular tents with beds, foam mattresses, bedsheets, pillows, chairs, tables and electric fans.

Early on, the OCD delivered generator sets, electric fans, and PPEs which were given to target recipients.

On top of these donations, the OCD has also approved to shoulder the salaries of at least nine institutional workers who are currently assigned in isolation facilities, including the meals, snacks and water provision to Covid-19 patients and medical front-liners since last month. (PNA
