Zamboanga City Covid-19 cases surge: OCTA

MANILA – The number of new cases in Zamboanga City has increased by 47 percent compared to the previous week, with 151 recorded per day, the latest monitoring report by OCTA Research showed.

Its May 12 report shows that Puerto Princesa City in Palawan also recorded a 35-percent one-week growth rate with 60 new cases per day. It has an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 21.35.

The cities of Baguio and Tuguegarao also recorded an increase in new cases. Baguio City logged an ADAR rate of 21.08 while Tuguegarao had 42.94 ADAR.

Under the Department of Health's classification, these three cities are considered "high-risk" areas due to ADAR higher than 10 per 100,000 population.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region’s current daily average is 67 percent lower compared to the peak of the surge on March 29 to April 4.

From May 5 to 11, the average number of new cases daily in the NCR is 1,855. The one-week growth rate in the NCR was -35 percent. The positivity rate in the NCR over the past week was 13 percent, from an average of 22,150 tests per day.

Hospital bed occupancy in the NCR for Covid-19 decreased to 48 percent. Meanwhile, intensive care unit occupancy decreased to 808 with a utilization rate of 67 percent. (PNA)
